Sujatha

Sujatha (May 3, 1935 - Feb 27, 2008, Aged: 72) [1] was the pseudonym of the Tamil writer S. Rangarajan, author of over 100 novels, 250 short stories, ten books on science, ten stage plays, and a slim volume of poems. He was one of the most popular writers in Tamil literature, and a regular contributor to topical columns in Tamil periodicals such as Ananda Vikatan, Kumudam and Kalki. He had a wide readership, and served for a brief period as the editor of Kumudam, and has also written screenplays and dialogues for several Tamil movies.

ACCETOBA Silver Jubilee Reunion 1975-80 Batch

ACCETOBA Silver Jubilee Reunion 1975-80 Batch

Introduction:

Family get together was arranged in A.C. College of Engineering & Technology, Karaikudi on 13th and 14th August 2005 for the 1975-80 batch old students. Large number of old students from all over India have participated in the function with their families and made this a grand success.78 members out of 157 have participated in the function.

Arrangement:

The arrangement for the meeting such as collection of addresses of all the batch mates who have spread all over the world and contacting them for confirming their participation and getting their bio-data and family photos started one year back. The day was fixed as Second Saturday and Sunday of August. K.Prabhu and Mr.R.Sampath from Karaikkudi and Gomathi Nayagam from Neyveli have contacted all the batch mates for their participation in the function and arranged accommodation, transport, and food for them.

Started from Neyveli:

We have started in two vans from Neyveli at 7.00 pm on 12.08.2005. S.Elangovan, Manian, Gomathinayagam and myself went by the point to point minibus. We first went to temple in 408 Qtrs and worshipped and started our journey. We traveled through Trichy, Puduakkotai and reached Karaikudi at 2.00am on the next day morning.

Karaikudi:

The town has changed completely with lot of high rise buildings. Lot of buildings and many hotels has come in the town. Accommodation was arranged in various hotels and we have been provided rooms in Hotel Subhalakshmi Palace located in Sekkalai Road. I have got room No.213 for my family. As soon as I checked in the room I have started re-collecting my college days. I have stayed in room No 39 SCH during first year, ETH during second year , ENH during third year ,TNH during fourth year and KNH during final year. My first year room mates were Soundararajan. Pugalendhi and Mohan. Other room mates were David, Lourduraj, Soundararajan, Somanathan, Periaraj, Chandrasekhar during various years.

Reached the college:

We have started from the room at 8am by the bus specially arranged for local trip. It went to another lodge where lot of other classmates also joined us. We reached the college by 9am. We went to the Murugappa Hall. Break fast was served in a shamiyana erected near the hall. We guessed the name of each classmate and found that we have forgotten most of their faces. We get introduced with all the classmates and surprised to notice that there were lot of changes in their face during the past 25 years. I can not identify the faces of my close friends such as Gundu Balu, Sivasubramoniam, Butti Balu, Valliappan, Manohar, Hevilambi Sekar, Vijayaraghavan, Srikanth, Pugalendhi, Sampath Kumar , Shanmugam , Palaniappan, Ramesh , Padmanabhan etc After the break fast we went to the main building and garlanded the statue of Dr.Alagappa Chettiyar.

Went around the place:

We went all the class rooms were where we have studied and all the labs and work shops. We went to Civil labs, mechanical work shops, Electrical lab and finally went to my Electronics Department building. I have recollected my earlier days of my class rooms and labs. At that time only one main frame computer is provided there. Now lot of PCs are provided in Glass cabins in the first floor of the building. The Ground floor continues to be ECE lab. Then we went to the library which has no change.

Registration:

Then we went to the Murugappa Hall for the function. After registration at the entrance we occupied the chairs. My friends came one by one into the hall. I went near to each one and chatted with them . It was very nice to met Rajagopalan, Ravi, Sridhar, Rajaram, Asokan, Jeyasimhan , Padmanabhan etc who were all brilliant students. The function started with the self introduction of the members with their families on the stage. Memento and compliments were given to each family. Lunch was served in the shamiyana and we took lunch after the function was over.

Visit to the palace:

We went to Kanadu Kathan by bus and visited the Palace of Raja Sir Annamalai Chettiyar. The acre taker told that more than ten films were shot in the palace. It is a huge palace with marble flooring and Burma Teak wood. There are lot of portions and number of rooms.

Games & Entertainment:

After the visit to palace we had one hour rest in the hotel and returned to the Murugappa hall for the games and entertainment. Lot games were conducted for couple, ladies and children. After the games were over, orchestra by the college students were performed. During the end of the programme our classmates danced for the song and the last song was performed once more. Then the prizes were given for the winners of various games. :

After vote of thanks the function ended with lot of emotion in all the members and it was agreed to conduct family get together once in five years and some other places like Ooty, Kodaikkanal etc. It was announced that 78 members attended the function.

Second day:

We have stated from our room at 7am and visited the temples at Pilliyarpatti( Karpaga Vinayagar) and Ariyakudi ( Then Tirupathi) by bus. After the visit we had break fast at the SCH Mess. Masala Dosai and bread toast were served .We enjoyed the food and recollected our food during the hostel days. We went to the SCH hostel and saw our rooms in the same condition even now except my room number was changed to 219 means 19th room in first floor. SCH has three floors with 20 rooms in each floors.
